comfortable Stamford interior design space
What I love most about Stamford is that antiquing is a big business here! If you are like me, you respect the charm and character of antique furniture, books, and collectibles that tell tales from the past.

I have spent hours in Stamford’s many antique stores; including Antique and Artisan Center, Greenwich Living Antiques & Design Center, Avery and Dash Collections (formerly Harbor View), and United House Wrecking Co.

May I offer a word of advise when antiquing?  As fun as it is to stroll and browse and find hidden treasures, I suggest you set out with an intention of one or two items you wish to find or discover.  Take measurements at home prior to setting out,  to be sure the piece you find will work in its intended location.  This avoids impulse purchases, regrettable (expensive purchases) and feeling overwhelmed. One place to find treasures is United House Wrecking in Stamford.

A great asset of living in Stamford is that you either work in Stamford, or have a short commute into Grand Central Terminal.  That adds so much value to your life, to have a short commute!  Even for clients with a short work commute, many are pressed for time when it comes to initiating let alone managing your home improvement projects.  Because no matter the size, designing and renovating your home requires making tons of decisions!

Why go it alone?  My goal as your designer is to be your trusted advisor and advocate.  My home studio is in Weston, CT, so working with my Stamford, CT clients is a breeze!  A Stamford client recently called on me for a paint consultation.  She described perfectly why she sought professional guidance.  “There are just too many colors on the fan deck, how do I find the PERFECT PAINT before my painter arrives next week?

What I advise my clients -THERE IS NOT ONE PERFECT COLOR! There are a variety of colors that my be ideal, considering your design style, the quality of light in your home, existing upholstery, artwork and lighting.  So my goal, as your designer, is to guide you in selecting the ideal color palette. How?  I bring large, painted cards to your home, and together we discuss/review the various choices.  The colors will  complement the other elements in your home while taking into account your personal preferences and how you want your home to feel.  I start every project with that question “How do you want to FEEL when you enter this room?”

“Tami has done several design projects, and two homes for me. The most recent design was for my master bedroom and office. She is extremely professional and organized. She developed a design guide for me with all the design details including window treatments, fabrics, furniture, rugs, bedding, paint colors, art work and vendors. She really knows how to transform rooms. I truly love my master bedroom now, and it’s a good thing I did my office- otherwise, I might not get out of bed and get to work!  Kathy Gould

In addition to paint consultations for Stamford, CT residents, I offer a full menu of design services, such as custom window fashions (think drapery, valances, Roman Shades, blinds, Natural Woven Shades and the full Hunter Douglas product line), Full design and Project Management for your home renovation project, simple hourly consultations for guidance on a small project, Material Selection for your kitchen or bath renovation.

If you want to pick my brain and review items you have selected for a project, no problem, I often am engaged on an hourly basis in the client’s home – I share information and guide you in firming between choices you have already made (be ready to take notes!).

 houzz interior designer award winner

In 2001 I left a career as a Labor and Delivery registered nurse at UCLA for a career in interior design.  I feel the two careers are related in a big way.  I love to teach, and nurture my clients.

Interior Design is a beloved passion of mine, and I hope to make it as equally enjoyable for you. It comes down to helping people. It thrills me to no end to help express my client’s idea of a beautiful home.

After all, why do you work so hard if not to return to a safe haven to replenish and renew your spirit and connect with loved ones?

Home is where we celebrate birthdays and holidays, where we raise our children and create memories.

That is my highest calling as a designer, to create a beautiful and functional space that my client anticipates returning to at the end of the day.

I believe you deserve a home which will rise up to meet when you walk in the door.
Let’s create it together!
