Custom Drapery and Interior Design in Danbury from Interior Designer Tami Smight
With an abundance of nature parks and marinas – outdoor leisure activities are readily available, no matter where you are in Danbury!
Our kids are grown and live in Brooklyn, NY, but if you have school age children – consider Danbury to raise your family. The percentage of Danbury High School students continuing on to college is 67.9%, which is just shy of the state average of 71.9%.
What I respond to favorably, whenever visiting Danbury is the ethnic diversity. Residents from Ecuador, Brazil, Portugal, Poland, Peru, India Lebanon, Mexico (to name a few) call Danbury home. Danbury schools can boast that forty three languages are spoken in the school system. I believe that raising our children in an ethnically diverse town as we did (Los Angeles), they are open-minded, whole hearted adults – which makes them productive citizens overall.
As an interior designer, I look to the family culture to inform the design of the home. Perhaps a family has a weekly dinner with friends and family from the community or place of worship —- the designs for the dining and kitchen would serve that use of the home. Asking the proper questions, at the start of the project, benefits my clients — so the design is a reflection of not only the passions, travels and culture – but also simple preferences of color and traditions.
One of my Danbury, CT interior design clients moved into a newly built townhome from New York. Her concern was that she was leaving her home of 23 years, with so many memories and mementos, friends and sense of community. My goal, from the start, was to learn what this new home meant to her. What I learned was that this new home represented a place to grow and establish a sense of community in CT, with her newly-wed husband. He had always lived in CT, and when she sold her NY home, they bought at The Enclave in Danbury (Toll Brothers Homes).
Did you know that a good interior designer offers so much more than pairing the right wall color with furnishings – good designers (and I do count myself among the good ones, in fact check out my reviews) will dive deeper into the story of the client. This story will be so rich with clues and indicators about what the client values — the hopes and fears the client has about the home, new town, or change in family size. In fact I wrote a blog post about tips for displaying collections in your home.

After all, why do you work so hard if not to return to a safe haven to replenish and renew your spirit and connect with loved ones?
Home is where we celebrate birthdays and holidays, where we raise our children and create memories.
That is my highest calling as a designer, to create a beautiful and functional space that my client anticipates returning to at the end of the day.
I believe you deserve a home which will rise up to meet when you walk in the door.
Let’s create it together!
