When Alec and I purchased our 1961 Colonial in Weston, CT, we knew it was in need of a new kitchen… which required opening up some walls to give it more light. Opening up walls requires structural changes, which calls for an architect.

In researching architects in Weston, CT, I realized there are some who call themselves architects but are not licensed architects. I met with three people, and my clear choice was Jim Jamieson, who happens to be the only licensed in the town of Weston, CT as far as my research revealed.

Jim Jamieson Licensed Architect in Weston CT

At our first meeting, Jim listened to my wish list, reviewed inspiration photos and walked the property with me.

He provided a proposal in a timely manner, which was fair and clearly written. The clear choice of an architect for our project was Jim Jamieson.

Jim guided us in meeting two contractors who bid on the project, and he made the entire permitting process easier for me with the Town of Weston. Our property has wetlands, so the permitting process was a bit longer due to restrictions for wetlands improvements.

We feel we have a rock star team of architect and contractor working on our home. The best part, Jim tailored the design to our dreams and how we intend to live in the home.

Communicating your wish list to your architect takes forethought and proper planning. If you need help doing so, Tami Smight Interiors is available to guide you through the design process from inspiration to installation along with interior design services such as custom window treatments and color consultations.
